Visit reviveBF2.com to view information on what will happen after Gamespy shuts down on June 30th. In theory, reviveBF2 will be the only way you can play the game, but it will change BF2 for the better. They are going to implement a browser-based system much like BF3 and 4.
Please consider donating to them. They may be the only ones keeping our favorite game from dying.

They are still working on the site, but claim to be on schedule at being ready to go by EA shutdown time.

If you haven't had the time to visit their site and get the lowdown, here is a summary.
They plan to have a patch ready for when EA shuts down. They are making a "launcher" utility that should make this easy.
They will have new server side files that we will need to put on our server, as well.
I cannot get a clear answer from Gameservers.com at this point as to whether I will have the required access privileges to do that.
It is possible that we will change to Unranked status with Gameservers, since the Ranking system will be handled by the group at www.battlelog.co
(Register with them if you want your player stats to live on in their database as EA discontinues the master one)
They announced that Special Forces will be rolled into the patch, much like EA did with Armored Fury into the 1.5 Patch.
This means you will have SF available to play, even if you never purchased or installed it previously, and server's can run SF maps along side vanilla maps, in sequence, which is not possible right now.
Check www.revivebf2.com regularly, they are also posting polls regarding new maps, etc that can be voted on.

If your game stops working, you will need the patch, and we will patch our server.

Yet, there are seems to be lots of folks still totally unaware of this.
They will be releasing a patch soon.

Am i to take this as they want my Bf2 name and Bf2 PASSWORD i use to play the game? Doesn't seem safe to give my game password as that is the same password i use for bf2, bf3, and bf4......

STAGE 1 – First Patch | Expected Release: 5/30
To Include:
1) BF2 Battlelog Website:
Similar to BF2HQ/BF2 Stats. Players will need to register here to be able to log in to their new BF2 account and link their old stats.
2) Merging Special Forces:
This will allow server owners to play Special Forces maps back to back with regular maps. Players will not need to relaunch the game!
3) Fixing Bugs and Issues:
Mainly graphics, driver and other general bugs and issues that were not addressed in 1.5 will be fixed and most included in Stage 1.
4) New BF2 Launcher:
This will allow you launch the game to patch/update the game and let you play with your new account. Necessary to bypass Gamespy.

The Launcher has worked fine for many of us.
Important stuff:
1. The Launcher installer needs to know where your BF2 install is, if BF2 is not in a "default" location, you need to choose advanced and direct it to the BF2 Folder.
2. You need .NET Framework v4 for the Launcher to work. It's safe, it's from Microsoft, lol! Installer is in my post above this one.
The launcher should detect when the patch is ready/required to play.
Then I will need to get our gameserver updated with their new files so we can play on!

use your BF2 name and PW, and direct the installer to where your BF2 game resides, it must be in the same folder as BF2!

New launcher to release tonight.
We haven't been useless over the few weeks. We have Literally saved thousands of accounts. our database reaches into the gigabytes in size. Even if you didn't make a revive account before the shutdown your still potentially ok.
Create a revive account. The launcher will be out tonight as a lite edition to get you up and running. Your unlocks may not be there. But that will go for everybody on the revive network. so its fair game. until we connect your account to the log in processor.
It has been coming in from around the world that the services have been down. We cant confirm for sure if this is forever but lets find out.
Tonight When the team comes together usually around 5PM MST every night. We will launch the Lite launcher and boom your back in the game.
During your time of boardom we suggest being an agent of calm to those losing there minds right now.
Support on the forums by replying to panics and Go seeking out seeds to plant in the minds of those who have lost there own.
Our facebook gets updated first always! so watch that for petty updates through the night.

New Launcher errors and info:
Here is the list of some errors you may come across and what they mean and how you can fix them.
ERROR A112 - BF2R.exe is installed in the wrong location! Make sure you install the launcher right next to where the BF2.exe file is located.
ERROR A9211 - Battlelog.co is down - try again later. Also check anti-virus, proxies, etc as they may be blocking our server.
ERROR A1104/A1102 - Unable to write or read host file. Make sure anti-virus is disabled or an exemption is made. Also double check that host file is not in Read Only mode.
ERROR A1124 - Mods folder is empty. You need "/mods/bf2" to play. Re-install the game.
ERROR A:0132/A:0133 - After clicking Play launcher is unable to write/read host file.
ERROR A:119 - Unable to modify host file. Cannot flush DNS. Check anti-virus and network.
ERROR A8163 - Unable to download update. Check Read Only permissions for BF2 root folder or drive. Download server may be down. Try again later.
ERROR A112 - BF2R.exe is installed in the wrong location! Make sure you install the launcher right next to where the BF2.exe file is located.

I have a ORGIN version of BF2 and registered my name about 3-4 weeks ago.
I downloaded the Revive BF2 launcher yesterday and took about 10 seconds to download.
No problems or issues have occurred!

Our Provider “FRAGNET” Has Already Applied To Join BF2HUB And Just Waiting For The Hubs Response: "Once we have heard back from them, we will configure our servers to use BF2Hub instead and all BF2 servers should resume operations as expected."

Interesting what they need to "configure" server side, since all that should be needed is client side hosts file additions. Perhaps support for stats logging?
In any case, sounds like a plan, frag 'em and bag 'em! :cheers:
